HELLO

This is our puppy, Luna. She's the CFO (chief fluffy officer) here at Rethinkwrap (fka Regiftwrap). She's been super influential with our final production and launch schedule 😅...

MEET Rethinkwrap®

Rethinkwrap (fka Regiftwrap) is reusable gift wrapping paper. Reusing is better for the environment than recycling, which takes lots of energy and water and only half of all paper even gets recycled so that’s a lot going to landfill. A beautiful alternative to disposable wrapping paper and its unwanted trash.

Rethinkwrap looks and feels like traditional wrapping paper but it's virtually indestructible, extremely light, tear resistant, soft and waterproof. It also handles dreaded sticky tape effortlessly.

Our simple yet stylish wrap comes in classic colours that offer a perfect solution to your seasonal and celebratory gift wrapping. Let's step outside the kraft paper box - and be more colourful! Use Rethinkwrap as a base and then be creative and dress your gifts with unique ribbons, tags, bows etc. (see our Pinterest boards for inspiration)

We think wrinkles are beautiful. Rethinkwrap is designed to be scrunched up and stored in its own reusable gift tin.

Each sheet is individually numbered for tracking and eco accountability.

Why Rethinkwrap?

The more we share the more we have.
— Leonard Nimoy

Giving and receiving gifts is universal.

Wrapping a gift shows that you have not only employed your credit card for a few seconds — but that you have also taken care.

Alas, if you’ve ever seen a typical living room on Christmas morning, and witnessed the garbage pile of wrapping paper - you already know that waste is an unhappy byproduct.

Each Christmas the UK alone bins 227,000 miles of wrapping paper, that’s enough to stretch nine times around the earth or reach the moon!

Contrary to popular belief, less than half of wrapping paper is or can be recycled. And every year during the winter holiday season we send an extra 4 million tons of wrapping paper trash to landfills.

Traditional wrapping paper is difficult to reuse as it’s designed for single use, and although some of us might try to reuse it, realistically this can only be a couple of times before it is unsalvageable. Most people excitedly tear into their gifts like a lion into a gazelle leaving little paper left to salvage. One can awkwardly collect the scraps of paper, attempt a rescue by flattening, or put into recycle bin, but even then it’s still a 47% chance it will end up in a landfill.

To put this in context - it is estimated that it takes 15 trees to make a ton of wrapping paper, which amounts to 60 million trees cut down just to wrap our gifts, and wind up as 4 million tons of holiday cheer dumped into landfills.

A major percentage of used wrapping paper can't be recycled due to special or metallic coatings (i.e. 👉 foil stamped kraft paper 👀). And recycling isn't without consequence. Recycling requires large amounts of energy and water. It’s better to reuse, not throwaway.

we can all choose to make a difference.

according to a study by stanford:

"if every american family wrapped just three presents in reused materials, the saved paper would cover 45,000 football fields"

We’ve reimagined gift wrap to be reusable, shareable and socially accountable. Our innovative solution employs novel materials, tracking technology, and social media consciousness to make reusing gift wrap chic and on-trend, fun & relevant - as well as provide tangible environmental benefits.

Let’s stop giving garbage and disrupt gift wrap waste with smart reusable Rethinkwrap.

(Modern) wrapping paper was invented in 1917. It is way overdue for an update! We commemorated the 100th anniversary with a rethink and reimagined gift wrap to embody this century’s circular economy and socially conscious ethos!

My Story …

I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest surrounded by evergreen trees. As a child, I remember seeing my first clearcut. I thought the decimated forest must’ve been cut down by a monster on a lawnmower - but, as we drove past, my dad said dryly, “those trees are for making paper.”

Thankfully today we’re more environmentally and socially conscious, I know I’m not the only one cringing when piles of gift wrap get stuffed into trash bags.

I love shiny wrapping paper and packaging more than anyone. I love how gift wrap can turn something ordinary into something amazing. But I hate creating unnecessary waste in the name of the people I love. How about you? Over the years of birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, weddings, and baby showers, I realized something. I want to give joy – not trash.

And during my “illustrious” career as a print and packaging designer - I endeavored to find innovative and eco-friendly solutions. However, my northwest roots and ethos were often at odds with paying the mortgage.

I’ve been on press checks at 2 am, excitedly watching my work flash by on bus-sized rolls of paper - pressman yelling, “haha there goes Sherwood Forest.” I have witnessed on dreary January mornings thousands of my (lovingly designed) seasonal shopping bags and gift wrap unceremoniously heaped into a dumpster.

It dawned on me that I’ve spent a sizable amount of my time on Earth, literally designing garbage.

It's time to change this.
